The Paulding County Republican Party is making a difference in our community

Many of us do not realize that hunger is a serious problem right here in our own community. There are children in Paulding County that do not have food to eat when they are not at school. Various churches and individuals have stepped up to provide ready-to-eat food that is sent home with these children when they leave school on Friday afternoon. This is the only nourishment these kids receive over the weekend or when school is out of session.

The Paulding County GOP has once again joined in these efforts. For the second year in a row, we have committed to providing a weekend food supply for 14 children at Robert’s Elementary from now through the end of the school year. Each week, a volunteer from the PCGOP will be delivering our food donations to Robert’s Elementary. Our goal is to provide each child with 1 breakfast item each day, 1 bowl of pasta each day, 1 granola/snack bar each day, and either fruit, pudding cup or crackers and a juice box/caprisun each day. For these 14 children, this food will be most, if not all, of what they have to eat for the entire weekend.

Here’s how you can help:

We need individuals to donate ready-to-eat food items and/or money with which food can be purchased. We also need volunteers to help with collecting, sorting, storing and delivering the food.

If you would like to make a donation or volunteer to help with the Back Pack Program, please contact Marcia Evans, our corresponding secretary. Marcia is coordinating our efforts, and you can reach her via email at marcia [at] pauldingrepublicans [dot] org.

As Republicans, we believe that the best way to help those in need is to come together as a community. Through churches, charitable organizations and the work of caring individuals, we can provide support to those in need of assistance. The Back Pack Program is an opportunity for us to put our principles into practice. We are very excited to be a part of such a worthy cause and hope that you are able to join us in our efforts.
